I would say I’m pretty interested in taxidermy when it’s not the real animals being used — more like feltidermy and now…knitidermy. When I came upon Rachel Denny I was delighted that she had come up with this new form.
This is so fabulous — a deer head as a sweater!
The one above even has a zipper like a jumper would.
The above is done in a twin cable. While I admire great knitwork I am no expert and would imagine that she makes the various pieces like socks and pulls them onto carved forms.
Rachel makes other types of works as well, however, they all incorporate animal parts of some variety or another — something after both mine and my mom’s heart. I just got up to our country house in New Hampshire this afternoon, where I’ll be for a few weeks and was reminded of how much my mom likes to use animal parts in decorating immediately upon entry!
How funny is the one above — it would go perfectly in the barn. It looks like Rachel’s works are sold in New York and San Francisco — the first question my mom had when I showed her these photos is, what do they cost!
In memoriam to our old bunny.
