Part computer scientist, part architect, Marc Fornes is all awesome. He builds “large scale prototypical installations” – my favorite. The pictures don’t do them justice.

I’m not sure what these are made of – plastic? I love them – you can really get inside them – the feel like part of a set for a post-apocalyptic film or a Mars landing.

These to me look like they’d be build on a 3D printer – a huge one! They don’t look like something man could make as they remind me of coral structures in their regular/irregular growth patterns.

Barbed wire? Garden sculpture? The fact that you can’t tell is what I find so cool about Marc’s work. Marc apparently has even taught at our local Harvard GSD as well as attended the Design Research Lab of the Architectural Association in London.

And…a TED Fellow. So many cool things in this one human. I really encourage you to check out his site (the pics are links back). This one above reminds me of being trapped inside a barnacle. The translucency, which I love in other materials, really comes through in this artificial creation here.
