Driftwood and Reclaimed Wood
I went to the framer yesterday to drop off the picture I bought from Lonny Photo. I ended up choosing a reclaimed barnwood frame that he sources from Texas. I have another barnwood frame in my foyer so this will match! Also – because in the image the horse is biting an old wood fence (yes, I got that one!) there’s a sort of harmony between frame and image now. There are a lot of great things that can be done with barn and driftwood given their rustic nature – the colors usually range from gray to sand and the textures can be varied from smooth to rough.

This one’s from 2Dogs Woodworking in Tucson, AZ.

Driftwood LOVE – appropriate – from Perch Papiers in Seattle.

Great frame and subject from Flax and Spindle in Southold, Long Island.

HomeSweet
I’m a big fan of handprinted fabric. I’ve posted on Virginia Johnson here before but today I came upon an Etsy printer, HomeSweet, who is a blockprinting scientist – literally.

Her Eyelet pattern above is simple and fresh!

I love the varied green shades in her Leaf Weave pattern.

Minileaves here – very Orla Kiely!

Purl Soho
When I got involved in my crochet work last Fall my store of record was Purl Soho – it’s right by my office and is very inviting. The clerks help you pick the best yarn for your project, make sure you have the right tools, and will roll your yarn into a ball for you. Their website has beautiful photos of their tools and materials.

I love that hot pink color – reminds me of 80s weekend.

If only my projects ever looked this organized!

Rubie Green Fabrics

I came across these amazing fabrics when I was visiting Chairloom’s site (more on that later) in the search for new chairs for my apartment. Rubie Green’s designs are the creation of Michelle Adams who I feel a kindred spirit within – I too have a kitchen I can’t fit in but the desire to work for more! Her designs, every one of them, I adore – if I’m feeling down I look to her website to soothe the escapist within. Not only are they aesthetically lovely – they’re eco-friendly too!
