Last night while in San Francisco for work I was able to take an hour in between events for dinner with my cousin David. We were at a bar on Minna St. so we walked down the way to a restaurant called Anchor & Hope. The ambiance of the restaurant was exactly what I like best: clean, airy, nautical. Since my “Nautical Summer” of 2008 I haven’t been able to shake the love of big globe lamps, whitewashed wood and seafood.
David and I shared the fried calamari that came with a spicy garlic dipping sauce and then seafood bouillabaisse with mussels, shrimp, clams, etc and then a clam risotto that was baked in a cast iron dish blending the best of risotto and the next days risotto pancake into one dish. If you’re in San Francisco I suggest going out of your way to this restuarant – enjoy the fish eating fish mural as well – I love it!
