I received my needle felting kit and roving from my mother at the end of last week and immediately left town for the weekend so I’m excited to go home and play around soon! In the meantime I’ve kept my imagination busy by exploring Ronel Jordaan’s site with all the lovely images of her felting projects.
Her felt rocks are transformed into cushions, rugs, blankets, scarves and more by Ronel and the female artisans she trains in Johannesburg, South Africa, where she’s based.
The above combines some of my favorite things – felting and leafing – these are felt rocks covered in silver leaf. They’d be beautiful on a Christmas table!
This evokes memories of living in Telluride for me – Ronel calls these carpets “riverbeds” which I can imagine would be nice to step on first thing in the mornings.
Seedpod, above, is entirely felted, I bet is could be used as a draft block too, a very beautiful, fun one at that.
This pillow is made employing the patterns of traditional body and facial scarring from areas of Africa.
