This Labor Day weekend is the first time I’ve seen my brother since his honeymoon to Ireland. From that trip he brought me an exhibit catalog entitled, “Organic Geometry: An Exploration or Form in Contemporary Irish Craft.” In it are highlighted about 40 artists that are a part of the Crafts Council of Ireland — one of those artists is Mary Neeson and her ceramic work is amazing.
Mary works mostly in porcelain and explores, much to my delight, its translucent qualities in light fixtures. The above remind me of my mother’s Christmas tree collection — these would look good around the holidays at our house!
These look like amoebas and are something I’d like to try my hand at making. I’ve seen lots of great porcelain works at ABC Carpet & Home lately and these I think would also do well there — they remind me of my amoeba works.
Very soothing light diffusion for a late night post after a successful dinner party and family bonfire!
