I came upon Eduardo Garza’s work in an issue of Lonny Mag and immediately was smitten. The objects they showed were, at the time, very high end bookends that were beautiful geodes encrusted in gold. Since they appeared in the magazine they’ve more than doubled in price on his website to an unattainable cost but all his hand-made pieces are still gorgeous to look at.
The above is a rock crystal matrix on a gold gilt base. I can’t quite figure out what the base is made of, I assume wood but don’t know. In his bio he states he only uses organic materials, hence why the assumption.
The above is with amethyst, so beautiful and simple. I like geodes in part because they arrange themselves in unique but very cool patterns of sorts.
Each piece seems to be in a range around 6-8 inches, which makes them absolutely fabulous paperweights or objects for a shelf or mantel.
I think the above might be my favorite piece of his right now. A gold dipped sea fan – I love how it distinguishes the veins more than normal. I’m not at a stage in my life where I might not break this but someday!
And for one of my mom’s favorite items, ostrich eggs, again dipped in gold and embellished with malachite. His products are now for sale at Bergdorf Goodman, can’t wait to see them next time I’m in NYC!
