In keeping with my love of porcelain I wanted to share the tiles and other works of Heather Knight out of Asheville and her shop, Elemental Clay Studio.

Her tile series, focusing on amazing textures, are 9×9 inches square and what’s awesome is that they can be displayed as one single piece or together in a wall art cluster.

This hydrangea tile is so beautiful, delicate, but solid. I can only imagine what these would look like if there was no framework behind them and a lightbulb instead.

Fungi tile — I want to see one of these upclose to see if you can see Heather’s touch.

The above bowl, her urchin bowl, was the first piece that caught my eye. In college, my friend Abby’s younger brother was making pieces, mostly tea pots that had these sort of spikes coming out of them but they weren’t out of porcelain. I think he also ended up making a series of bowls as well!

They also sort of remind me of Adler’s Georgia vase of interlocking breasts.

Yet again I’m struck by the need to learn how to work with porcelain as soon as possible.
