I love how modern these textiles works by Eleanor Anderson look but I really can’t find out too much about her online. I found out about her through the even-awesome, Textile Arts Center where it appears she’s a resident right now.

As I got to digging around though it appears she’s far younger than I thought. She, I think, graduated college last year in Colorado.

For some reason, maybe it’s the patterns or the colors but I just sort of assumed she was middle-aged. I have no idea what that says about me! Eleanor keeps up a great site but unlike many other artists there’s no big about section or artist’s statement – you get to just enjoy the works.

I did find this article on her from from her college’s radio station where it says she self-describes her works as 2.5D – as they do look sculpturally flat I can see what she’s getting at.

I think my favorite part is how simple some are like the above. It loks like a shell, a hive, stone wall, an igloo, etc. The possibilities are endless!
