I remember doing a lot of puzzles as a child and they were always fun and challenging. I think my dad used them as a way to teach us patience but I’m still figuring out what the lessons he teaches us are for so who knows. After I graduated from college I went up to my friend Abby’s house in Maine for a week to hang out. While there we did countless puzzles and they all came in the beautiful little boxes and some were about her family even – I fell in love with how unique and special they were, and collectible. Turns out they were Stave Puzzles.
Founded in 1974 by Steve Richardson, Stave puts out all hand-made wooden puzzles that come in various sizes and levels of difficulty from their headquarters in Norwich, VT. I have never done harder puzzles – ever. Every puzzle includes one of their signature clown shaped pieces and many puzzles aren’t full puzzles, the openings are part of the design making them virtually impossible at times! Sometimes there are pieces that are even meant to just be elements alongside the puzzles – crazy and amazing. I’ve started buying one a year for my brother as a new tradition in our lives!
