I was re-discovering Nest yesterday and came upon Kate Henri’s amazing handwoven pillows on their site. Nest’s mission is to connect women through art, craft and opportunity. A great concept that they back up through a sort of “pay it forward” system whereby designers select one or two products of theirs to have the proceeds go to micro-finance loans to the women Nest supports globally. These loans help them buy supplies, make their wares, and sell them.
Kate Henri has joined the site and I love her pillow designs – they look similar to ones I made out of my mom’s old fabric belts she had from Mexico and Africa. She employs craftsmen and women who use traditional techniques to create her beautiful designs.
My high school colors above!
I think the cactus pattern above may be my favorite. It’s so clean and simple – Kate’s designs use only all natural dyes too, which is awesome. I’m getting into brands that feel good to support!
