Last night I went to a Nest event being held near my office at a store called Matta. There I met many extraordinary women doing really amazing things – two of which operate A Peace Treaty, which currently produces beautiful scarves that are available through their site and at stores in the US and abroad.

The ladies who run it, Farah Malik and Dana Arbib, created the much talked about line out of the desire to preserve traditional techniques, create gorgeous apparel items and bring together their two backgrounds – Farah is a Pakistani Muslim and Dana is a Libyan Jew.

Envy of all, the women travel to a region for each of their lines and find local artisans willing to stretch the boundaries of their art form. This seasons is made up of silks and cottons that are hangwoven, hand-dyed, and woodblock printed.

I love that they make pieces that are for both men and women but are also versatile enough that you can simply be drawn to the patterns you like best. I adore their color palettes and I can’t wait to see what they come up with next – they were lovely to spend time with and have a great friendship above all else.
