Sometimes I get clicking and I go from Twitter to Etsy to Facebook to LinkedIn and even my browser history can’t remind me how I got to where I ended up — but today I ended up at the awesome site of Brooke, Newov. This is a testament to the power of a good photograph – her woven works look so amazing that I would frame and hang the pictures themselves!

I love how Brooke uses different weights of various materials for the warp and weft of her weavings. They’re so much more dynamic as a result.

In her wearables as well as her interior goods you can see the juxtaposition of the hand spun yarn with the silks and linens — it’s just lovely. You can imagine how interesting they would feel!

The scarf below is so lightweight and airy — it looks like mesh but yet it’s still fluid and textural — it looks like a plume of smoke in some ways.

The picture below is one I could see framed on my wall — I can’t get over how strongly I feel that the process is as much a part of the piece. I like how Brooke talks about the whole process as sort of meditative. I remember watching my mother set up our loom as a child and wanting to just get on with the weaving — I think this means I’ve learned a bit about patience.

The way she presents her scarves makes me want every single one.

The one below she talks about as treetops — you can see that. How it thins like a treeline does.

I need to learn to weave. Hopefully when I’m in New Hampshire for the next few weeks I can experiment!
